Working with Us

Welcome! We look forward to working with your production. American Humane is the only industry-sanctioned organization monitoring animals in filmed media and enjoys a rich history of working in coordination with productions to ensure the highest levels of animal actor safety. Let us share our expertise with you.

All productions filming with animals must register with American Humane. To be eligible for the No Animals Were Harmed certification, a Certified Animal Safety Rep (CASR) on set is required. CASRs monitor all animal action filming dates, regardless of action intensity or animal type, including insects, background animals, unscripted animals, and animals provided by extras and/or private parties.

Don’t expose yourself to risk. If any animal is going to be on your set, you need American Humane there monitoring the action. Let us work with you and protect your animal stars!

Announcement

American Humane is pleased to announce that effective July 1, 2022 our “No Animals Were Harmed®” program services, including travel costs, will be available at no-charge to SAG-AFTRA productions working in the U.S. and qualified SAG-AFTRA productions working internationally due to the generous support and commitment to animal protection of our funders, the SAG-AFTRA Producers Industry Advancement Fund (IACF).

COVID-19 Production Advisory

UPDATED April 24 , 2023
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will end the Federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency declaration on May 11, 2023. American Humane will follow the Guidance of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Declaration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, since human-to-animal transfer has been known to occur in some animal species, American Humane recommends the following for those working around animals.

• Those feeling ill/symptomatic or have had close contact to someone with COVID should not be on set. Those that have TESTED POSITIVE for COVID-19 should not be on set.
• High-risk animals are at higher risk of contracting COVID and include domestic and exotic cats, ferrets, Syrian hamsters, deer, and primates.
• Our Resource Center is open and available to answer your animal-related questions and advise you on how best to ensure animal safety and welfare. Contact us at 1-818-501-0123 or email us.
