In the scene where a canister flies in the air and the wolf looks up at it, this scene was filmed in a large pasture with a blue screen placed behind the wolf. The background will be added in post production and the wolf will be made to look like he stood at the edge of a cliff looking down into a valley below. In reality the ledge was approximately a foot high. The wolf is supposed to see a burning cannister fall from the sky into a valley and multiple wolves will be added in the distant valley in post production. Prior to filming, the wolf was driven closer to set and walked to set on a nylon collar. The trainers walked the wolf up to the camera and let him look around for a long time. The wolf was given water and placed back into his carrier for a several hour rest.

In the scenes where we see mice in an intricate cage in an office, the props department provided a fancy, modern rat complex in which to hold the rat in the background. The cage was made of clear Plexiglas and contained two walkways, stairs, an ornamental fake tree which the rat could not reach, and a hamster wheel. A water bottle was also included in the cage. One lower section included shaving as bedding. Multiple air holes present throughout the cage. During the scene, the rat moved around at liberty exploring the large cage. Between each take, trainer Greg put small pieces of banana chips throughout the complex and showed the rat there was food to find.

In the scene where the gigantic gorilla escapes from the zoo, jumping into the entrance, and we see a dog on a leash react, the trainer walked the dot to the set on a leash. On action, the trainer hid out of frame and cued him to bark. A man wearing a VFX suit jumped in front of the dog and one of the trainers pulled his leash towards her. The dog was given treats after the shoot.

In another scene where a monster runs down a street and a dog jumps on a fence and barks at him, the monster screams, and the dog runs away, a platform with a wood top was placed in the center of blue screen area. A wood fence piece was positioned on top of apple boxes next to the platform to look as if the dog was on a bridge. The trainer walked the dog to set on a leash. On action, the trainer signaled the dog to stay and bark. The dog stood on the fence with its front feet and barked on command. The dog was rewarded with treats.

In the scene where the actor ran with the rat in a plexiglass cage, through the lobby area, filming occurred in an expansive reception area on the main floor of a business building. A reception desk was located at the end of the atrium. The trainer brought the rat to set in a rat carrier. Water and food was placed in the carrier. On action, the actor carried the rat in the carrier from the stairwell to the lobby desk. He placed the carrier on the desk and was confronted by another actor. Brett gave him the laptop, picked up the rat carrier in his left hand, and started walking away. After calling cut, the rat was given back to the trainer and placed in a cool area.
