Through the generous support of our grant funders, SAG-AFTRA Producers Industry Advancement Cooperative Fund (IACF), select productions filming within the United States are exempt from American Humane monitoring fees and related travel expenses.
The following productions are eligible for the fee exemption, subject to available grant funding:
- Low-Budget Motion Pictures: Signatories to a SAG-AFTRA Short Project, Ultra-Low Budget, Modified Low Budget, Low-Budget or Basic Codified Agreement with a budget of $5.5 million and under. After receiving registration, our Film and Television Unit office will ask for SAG-AFTRA agreement details to confirm production’s eligibility.
- Low-Budget New Media Productions: Signatories to a SAG New Media Agreement without major distribution, i.e. a distributor with a consumer-based/subscription-based platform, and a budget of $500,000 and under. After receiving registration, our Film and Television Unit office will ask for SAG-AFTRA agreement details to confirm production’s eligibility.
- Talk Show/TV Movie/Reality Television including SAG-AFTRA Signatories: Talk Shows for Network and Basic Cable, Reality Shows for Network and Basic Cable, and Low-Budget Television Movies for Basic Cable with a budget of $2.5 million and under.
- All Student Films
Note: Should grant funding not be available, these productions are eligible for the SAG-AFTRA discounted animal monitoring rate.
COVID-19 Production Advisory
SARS-CoV-2 (Covid 19) is a global concern. Human-to-animal transfer has been known to occur in some species, therefore American Humane believes precautions should be taken to protect animal actors.
Each Production has its own unique set of circumstances. In pre-production, while you are planning your work with animals, contact American Humane for guidance. Our Resource Center is open and available to answer your animal-related questions and advise you on how best to ensure animal safety and welfare during the COVID-19 pandemic.
