Animal Action
In the scene where the soldiers park their Humvees in an Afghan village at night, get out and search for a suspect, but we see camels in the background, the camels were lead to set by animal handlers. A camel with saddle held by character in costume. Camels were beside one another. On action, the camels remain on mark. Supporting actors walk, cycle and sit outside a cage on the street.
In the scene where the actor purchases a car in small Afghan town and there’s a donkey tethered to a pole in the background, Prior to filming, donkeys arrived in horse lorry with two handlers. Donkeys were tacked up with girths, saddle pads and prop baskets. Prior to filming, the donkeys were lead to set by handlers and tied safely to tie points at the side of the road with breakaway ties. Animal handlers remained a few yards from donkeys off camera and maintained a watchful eye on donkeys.
In the scene where a car pulls up to a tent and we see a few men with a couple dogs, prior to filming the dogs arrived in air conditioned vehicles with experienced dog handlers. Dogs were provided with comfort breaks throughout the day. Dogs were sheltered and had a quiet holding area away from set and crew.
