Maxxxine (2024)

In the scene where the actress walks through a movie backlot and sees a man on horseback, prior to shooting the wrangler led horse to set and positioned him in western town. The trainer held horse as extra mounted him. On action, the extra rode horse up street. On action, actress runs across town and sees man on horseback. After filming horse was returned to trainer where he was given food and water.

In the scene where the actor is crushed in his car, blood spills out and two dogs run up to the area and lick the blood off the ground, prior to filming the trainers discussed the animal action. The dogs were brought to set by their trainers. The dogs were placed in marks inside the kennel and the gate to the kennel was closed shut. Before action, the trainers stood out of frame but close enough to stay in the dogs’ eyeline. On action, the actors cued the dogs with verbal and hand signal to bark. This action naturally excited the dog, and they began to bark.

In the second part of the scene when the dogs were released to lick up the blood, like the scene prior, the dogs were given verbal and tactile praise from the trainers for their performances. On action, the actor released the dogs and they ran to mark. Trainers were off-camera cuing them to run, stop and eat the fake blood. American Humane approved the non-toxic, fake blood that was used for dogs to lick in scene.
