Throughout the film, the family of the main character has a pet dog, who is seen performing such mild action as sitting/standing/lying, being held or petted, and walking/running on or off leash. For all of these scenes, trainers used hand signals and verbal commands to cue the mild action, which the trained dog was accustomed to performing. The barking/growling was also a trained behavior.

In the scene where the actor carries the actress in the house and we see a dog on the couch, the trainer placed the dog on the couch and cued him to put its head down. When the actress throws a trident across the room and the dog reacts, the trainer used a stick to get the dog to look one way or another.

When the actress wakes up, puts her hand in the fish tank and eats a fish, the fish were fake for this scene. The fish were made from gummies and marzipan and placed on a plastic stick so it appeared to be swimming . The actress would grab the fake fish and eat the candy as if it were a real fish.

In the scene where the family is attacked, there’s an explosion and the dog reacts and barks, there was never an explosion with the dog on set. The only special effect that that happened with the dog on set was a large orange light that comes on to simulate an explosion, there was no sound with the light. The dog was prepped with the light and the moving camera during rehearsals and did great. The dog was placed on a lie down on the couch prior to shooting. On action, the trainer cued the dog to stand up and bar. Everything went well!

In the scene where we see chickens in crates and sheep in a pen in an airplane, the set of the cargo plane was not on a gimble, it was stationary. The chickens were brought up in crates and the goat was walked on a lead rope by the trainers to the cargo plane set. The action was mild for the animals because they were only in cages and crates and were being fed food while in their crates.

In the scene where the actors are on the beach and there are a couple of camels in the background, Both camels were tacked up at their holding area next to the entrance to the beach. The camels were lead to the set from their holding area by their handlers who were in costume. Both camels were placed on their first positions and given a clear pathway along the beach to walk.
